Art Licensing Consulting
Just finished my Fall round of workshops and wanted to let folks know that aside from the workshops I do phone and in person consulting all year. I'm also blogging on www.cherylphelps.blogspot.com and I have to admit I've been having fun posting pics and random thoughts there. Guess it's cuz I've just done the two workshops plus two guest lectures about art licensing to an illustration under grad class at FIT and also to the MFA Hartford Illustration Grad Program when they were in town last week over at the Society of Illustrators. Plus I teach two nights a week at SVA here in NYC. So the other blog gives my biz brain a rest. I haven't quite gotten into the work scene of blogging about licensing yet. Promise I'll try and do more of that soon.

Lola Girl

This is my collection called Lola Girl™, it's a line of Teen/Tween novelty products. Originally the art was done for a line of greeting cards. Shenny/Flomo contacted me about doing teen/tween art for their product lines and I was able to license the existing art for Lola Girl™ onto notebooks, diaries, photo albums, pens, pencils, gift bags, memo pads, etc. They were showcased at the SHOPA , (School, Home, Office Products Association) Show in the Shenny Flomo booth. Licensing existing art is a great way to utilize your art archive to it's fullest. Licensing creates more homes for every single piece of art you do.

License It!
I'm out in San Francisco and just did my "Greeting Card, Licensing & Art Biz" Workshop. I have one more to go this Fall in NYC on November 8th, 2008. Last Fall I did 5 workshops! Had them in Kansas City, SF, NYC and 2 in Boulder, a beginning and advanced workshop for returning attendees. I started the workshops in 2000 and over the years have done a few advanced workshops, all of them previous to last Fall have been in San Francisco. Hope to add more advanced workshops in 2009 so returning artists can work with me again in the workshop format. I love doing the workshops! I love meeting other artists and sharing my knowledge base with other creative image makers. I'm hoping this blog will be a way of sharing some info on licensing as well as letting people know I do consulting all year by phone or in person additional to the workshops. I hope to add more cities soon. I also teach as an Adjunct Professor at SVA- School of Visual Art and FIT- Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC so I have to schedule workshops around my teaching schedule.
When I get back to NY I'll add some art and pics to this blog:)
